Nurture with knowledge, Connect with compassion.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: change the way the world thinks before they make a choice to become responsible for another conscious life. Animals are living things that feel emotions like fear, stress, and loneliness the same as you and me. So before becoming responsible for the entire wellbeing of another life, be conscious if you can provide for all their needs, for their entire life.

Animals have evolved for thousands, if not millions of years to fill a specific role in the ecosystem, while displaying certain behaviors. This does not change just because they are now your pet. When you acquire a pet, you are taking ownership of their life, how that life goes is up to you. It becomes your responsibility to ensure they live a good life. That means, you need to be conscious of what it takes to ensure that happens before acquiring ownership.

The number one cause of animal abuse is not evil people who want to wish harm on them, its lack of information. It's people with good hearts that want the best for that animal, that were not able to find the information they need, or were not aware they were missing any in the first place. Life is a complex thing, maintaining it is even more complex. Ensure you understand that before you commit to a life. Our mission and promise is to try to educate and provide information to those looking to care for another conscious life before they take that step to ensure they are able to fully meet the needs for their wellbeing for the entire life of that animal, or provide support to shelters or those in need when this falls short.

About
our founders

The Conscious Pet owner is founded and operated by Ethan and Taylor Hunt. Taylor is currently enrolled at the University of Georgia in their Veterinary College after working in vet med for multiple years. She cannot wait to finish vet school and getting to help owners and their pets live healthy lives together. Ethan holds a degree in animal behavior, and has worked professionally with both exotic and domestic animals for over a decade in various roles. Ethan has worked for the North Georgia Wildlife and Safari park for 13 years where has filled many roles such as animal care lead, animal training coordinator, and is currently the guest experience director. While being employed at the park, he has also founded, operated, and sold Ark Animal Behavior Group, and assisted with multiple Non-profits such as Shelter dogs for Veterans, a 501-c3 that trains dogs housed in shelters as service dogs for Veterans free of charge. As the owner of Ark, Ethan provided consulting on various behavior issues with many species ranging from dogs, to parrots, to cows, all the way to primates and crocodilians. Ethan became best known for his work with aggressive and fearful animals resulting in him advising political groups, and the Georgia State Congress on policies around potentially aggressive breeds. During their professional careers, they observed multiple trends that concerned them. Most animals in shelters, or suffering from preventable medical conditions are not from bad homes, they are from ill informed homes, so they began A Conscious Pet Owner with the hope of helping others nurture and care for animals with knowledge, while connecting on a deeper level with those animals with compassion.
